Long-serving MPL member appointed as new CEO

The current government has appointed Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim to lead Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Wajeeh had served in several senior positions of the commercial harbor’s operator from 2013 to 2022.

In his nine-year tenure at MPL, Wajeeh has been its Assistant General Manager, General Manager, and Assistant CEO as well.

Wajeeh has been a principal in various government-run schools prior to his career shift to MPL, and also had a stint at the Finance Department of the Ministry of Education.

The new MPL CEO holds an MBA credential from UK’s Anglia Ruskin University.
