The Managing Director of Maldive Gas Abdulla Mohamed has revealed the current government’s vision of facilitating gas availability from the southern and northern parts of the country.
The new Maldive Gas MD, while highlighting existing challenges in providing fuel and gas to distant or remote parts of the country, said that businesses had to pack and bring emptied gas cylinders from southern and northern atolls to Male’ region to have them refilled.
Abdulla underscored the importance of expanding the company’s infrastructure outside of the Male’ region, to better cater to the consumer base. He announced the present government’s vision for the state-owned corporation in its efforts to expand and streamline its services in the extreme ends of the country.
“The vision of Maldive Gas is to ensure that every time a local of an Haa Alifu atoll island needs a refill of their gas, they need not come to Male’ City for that, and instead directly seek the service from a location close to them. This would provide significant ease and economical benefits for everyone undoubtedly, and it would save expenditure for the consumers in having to bring their empty cylinders all the way to Male’ and have them shipped back to their home islands,” Abdulla said.
