Dhiraagu, Coffee Lab Roasters Partner Up for Largest Coffee Event

Telecommunications service provider Dhiraagu is partnering up with Coffee Lab Roasters for largest coffee event in the Maldives.

‘Dhiraagu Maldives AeroPress Championship 2018 – A Gathering for Coffee Lovers’ will be held on September 7th, in Rasrani gardens.

This is the largest event of the kind in the Maldives, fully open to public. In the AeroPress Championship, members of public will be able to experience full range of beverages made from coffee, including specialty brews.

The World AeroPress Championship is a global coffee-making competition, designed to find the world’s best cup of AeroPress coffee. Each season is comprised of a series regional and national competitions, run by independent hosts across 60 countries, which culminates with the World AeroPress Championship final.

Competitors have eight minutes in which to prepare, brew, and present their coffee to a panel of three judges. Drinks are presented in identical vessels, so judges can’t know who brewed which cup.

In this year’s edition, champions from 50 different nations will contest in Sydney, Australia. A winner from Maldives will be able to take part in this, assisted by Dhiraagu.

Coffee Lab Roasters Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ahmed Mohamed Afrah said that the purpose of the event was to showcase coffee industry in the Maldives.

‘We have a strong coffee culture in the Maldives. We want to represent Maldives on major platforms globally, even in this aspect. We wish to see more youth engaged in specialty coffee, explore their passion and progress professionally,’ he said.

The Lab is to hold a series of workshops in Male’ and Hulhumale’ prior to September’s event. The first workshop will be held on August 16th in Family Room in Hulhumale’, while another one will be held on August 30th in Dhiraagu Premier Lounge in Male’.
