STELCO expands power output in Vilimale’ ahead of Ramadan

With the hot season of the Maldives coinciding with this year’s Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting for Muslims all over the world, State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) is committed towards enhancing and easing the livelihood of the Greater Male’ Region citizens; who experiences the most significant brunt during the season.

As such, STELCO reports of ongoing efforts at Vilimale’ to expand the power output of Vilimale’ through the installation of a new 1.6 megawatt generator set in the island’s power station.

State Electric Company (STELCO) has been exploring stronger and more resilient avenues to enhance the lives of the citizens; one of which includes a stronger focus towards renewable energy initiatives and an expansion of the corporation’s service portfolio.

Earlier, the company had announced its ambition of integrating solar and other renewable energy initiatives, thereby reducing the strict dependency on fuel-based power generation; which also is aligned with the corporation’s objectives of reducing the carbon footprint.
