State Trading Organization (STO) has refuted rumors that there were shortages of basic staples in the market.
STO Managing Director Ahmed Shaheer shot down the rumors, adding that they had sufficient stocks of basic staples as well as fuel and medication.
He added shipments were proceeding as scheduled as well as to atoll distributors.
The rumors of staples shortage gained traction following claims by the opposition that Maldives would soon face staple shortages.
STO is the oldest trading corporation in the country and has the widest supply network in the country.
