Hussein Fahmy, the Managing Director of the State Electric Company (STELCO), expressed his admiration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizz’s decision to modify the billing rate for mosques’ electricity within the domestic tariff.

The adjustment to the domestic rate implies a significant reduction in bills.

Fahmy highlighted that, in line with the president’s announcement, STELCO will commence billing at domestic rates for the Greater Malé area and other islands where STELCO extends its services, effective from next month.

Furthermore, Fahmy emphasized that this alteration will be advantageous for local councils overseeing mosques.

It will alleviate their financial responsibilities, aligning with the government’s overarching policy to support and facilitate local councils.
