78 tons of vegetables, fruits cleared in one day

According to Maldives Customs Service, the authority has facilitated clearance of 78 tons of vegetables and fruits in one day.

Customs said the items imported for Ramadan have been cleared under the direct instructions of Commissioner General of Customs Yoosuf Maniu.

According the authority, the items were cleared from commercial harbor on Friday between 15:30hrs and 20:00hrs.

Perishable items including potato, tomato, papaya, banana, watermelon, cucumber, and mango among other commodities were cleared on Friday.

STO has been importing high-demand commodities in bulk quantities and releasing them to the Maldives market in a bid to maintain affordable prices.
