STELCO Urges Public to Conserve Electricity During Hottest Period of the Year and Ramadan

The Managing Director of the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), Hussein Fahmy, has issued a reminder to the public to be mindful of their electricity usage during the current hot weather and Ramadan period.

In a recent tweet, Hussein Fahmy referenced the Meteorological Department’s prediction that this is the hottest period of the year in the country. Furthermore, he emphasized the typical increase in electricity usage during Ramadan and this month.

According to data provided by the company, electricity consumption in the Greater Male’ Region typically hovers around 94 MW. However, during the ongoing period, this figure has surged to approximately 104.7 MW.

To alleviate strain on both consumers and the electricity grid, Fahmy emphasized the importance of conserving electricity. He also stressed the need to adopt measures to enhance its efficiency.

“In order to reduce electricity costs as much as possible, it is advisable to use electricity wisely and prioritize energy-saving practices during this critical period,” Fahmy stated.
