WOT’s Leadership Summit Concludes: Future of Work Shaped at Villa Nautica Event

World of Tomorrow (WOT) concluded its Leadership Summit Asia 2024 at Villa Nautica on Paradise Island this past Monday and Tuesday. The event was hailed as a success, featuring a mixture of international and local speakers who provided insightful sessions primarily focused on “Leading in the Future of Work.”

The conference took place at Villa Nautica, which was praised for its exceptional hospitality and deemed the perfect venue for the gathering. The event attracted many HR professionals and business leaders.

The summit opened with a keynote address by Dave Ulrich, the bestselling author of ‘HR Champions’, who discussed unleashing human potential, the latest trends, and the future of HR.

Kevin Oakes, CEO of the Institute for Corporate Productivity, followed with a presentation on brilliant research findings about transforming organizational culture through a growth mindset.

Santosh De’Souza, head of LinkedIn’s regional business for South India and Sri Lanka, delivered a session on building a strategic talent framework for the future.

A panel discussion examined strategies for the Maldives to continue retaining its status as a premier destination. The panel included Muaviyath Anwar, COO of Villa Resorts; Ibrahim Saleem, former CEO of MACL; Thayyib Mohamed, former Managing Director of MMPRC; and Amjath Thaufeef, Commercial Director of Kuda Villingili Resorts. The discussion was engaging and thought-provoking.

Additionally, a fireside chat featured Dr. Mahmood Shouqee, Chancellor of the Maldives National University, and Shaahina Ali, President of Parley Maldives, moderated by seasoned environmentalist Mohamed Inaz. They explored leadership in a circular economy to enhance sustainability and combat climate change.

One of the summit highlights was a session by Dr. Sweta Adatia, a leading neurologist and brain coach, who spoke about brainwaves and brilliance. She shared the latest research on mastering neuroleadership in today’s work environment.

Hassan Shammam, Group Director of Learning and Development at Villa Group, emphasized the critical role of empathy in leadership, describing it as the compass for leadership excellence.

On the second day, David Cory, President of emotional intelligence training company, captivated the audience with his insights on navigating AI-powered workplaces with emotional intelligence.

Mohamed Mistho, a leading Maldivian strategist, discussed future-proofing workplaces through strategic thinking, highlighting science-based approaches tailored for the Maldives.

Mohamed Aalim, Group Director of Talent, and Culture at Villa Resorts addressed building resilience for future success.

During the conference, Kristina Vaneva, an employee engagement, and internal communication specialist, launched her new book, ‘Beyond Employee Engagement’. The launch was facilitated by Ibrahim Siyad Qasim, CEO of Villa Resorts.

The event was sponsored by Villa Resorts and endorsed by several prestigious organizations, including the International Coaching Federation, the Ministry of Higher Education, Labor and Skills Development, the Maldives Trade Association, the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Business Center Corporation (BCC).
