Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Friday, May 03, 2024 said the biggest challenge for the country’s journalism sector is the difficulty in obtaining sustainable income.
Highlighting the local media’s predicament, President Muizzu revealed the government’s initiative to provide a dedicated incentive to the press media from the state budget, which would become realized with the parliament’s support.
The President made the remarks during his speech commemorating World Press Freedom Day.
In his address, President Muizzu extended warm regards and commendations to the journalists, and recognized their invaluable contribution and dedication.
