MACL launches debut edition of Airport Emergency & Resilience Forum

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched the debut edition of the Airport Emergency and Resilience Forum.

At the inaugural ceremony held at the Crossroads Maldives, the forum was officiated by Minister of State for Defense Muaz Haleem.

The forum’s inaugural was attended by MACL Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Deputy Managing Directors, and other senior officials of the company.

Additionally, all relevant stakeholders involved in emergency responses and services attended the ceremony as well.

While speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Muaz highlighted the importance of enhanced safety and security measures at the Velana International Airport since it houses some of the most important infrastructure in the country. He accentuated the need for improved coordination among all relevant stakeholders to increase the efficacy of the airport’s emergency response and affiliated services with collective efforts made towards a more streamlined operation.

MACL CEO and MD who spoke at the event, assured increased surveillance and monitoring aimed at strengthening safety measures at the VIA amid ongoing developmental initiatives that would increase its passenger traffic in future.

The primary objectives of the two-day forum at Crossroads Maldives is to engage in valuable discussions, among all relevant stakeholders, on the methods and approaches to increase safety protocols and enhance emergency response services in VIA.

Various relevant entities will provide details about their roles and responsibilities in ensuring safety protocols of the airport. Additionally, a table-top exercise would be executed to address and assess how the relevant agencies handle critical and sensitive situations.

The Airport Emergency and Resilience Forum is conducted by MACL in association with relevant agencies, government bodies and other stakeholders.
