VIA announces partners for Air Service World Congress 2024

Velana International Airport (VIA) announced the partners for the Air Service World Congress (ASWC) 2024.

The announcement was made during an event held at the Noovilu Seaplane Terminal of VIA. The event saw participation from the CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), deputy managing directors, senior management, and partners.

Speaking at the event, MACL Managing Director and CEO Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said, “President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has prioritized the development of Velana International Airport with a visionary Masterplan and that this plan will drive national prosperity through aviation development, congruent with the growth of our tourism sector.”

“Velana International Airport will be at the core of this transformation, expanding alongside our booming economy. This expansion will attract more connections between Velana and the world.”

Additionally, he said “The Air Service World Congress will offer unparalleled networking and business opportunities. I encourage all stakeholders to seize this opportunity. Be part of this exciting event, build lasting relationships, and position yourselves for future success.”

The Chief Guest of the event, Chairperson of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Aysha Nurain Janah highlighted the ASWC’s potential to bring new partnerships and expand networks.

“Today the Maldives stands on the cusp of a new era in air travel. We look forward to enhancing the recognition that we have as positioning Velana International Airport and the Maldives not just as a destination but as a distinctive must-visit location on the global map,” she added.

The Air Service World Congress 2024 is the first aviation route development event in the Maldives, “bringing together international delegates for face-to-face discussions” on the future of the aviation sector.

The conference is scheduled from July 09 to 11, 2024 at Kurumba Maldives.

Moreover, the event is expected to attract over 300 delegates from various regions of the world, which would include airport and route development executives, airline executives and networking planners, aviation suppliers, and representatives from aviation and tourism bodies.
