The Chairperson of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Aysha Nurain Janah has resigned.

Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Thursday confirmed her resignation on its official X handle, and added Nurain tendered her resignation on Wednesday.

The board confirmed it has accepted her resignation, and has accordingly removed from the post.

Although Nurain’s resignation has come abruptly, neither the exiting MMPRC Chairperson nor any relevant government source have been available for a comment.

Nurain is the daughter of the business auteur and Principal Advisor on Trade Investment to Maldives President, Mohamed Ali Janah. She was appointed for the position on December 07, 2023.

Following an interview to an international media outlet at this year’s ITB Berlin 2024 held in March, Nurain gained popularity among the public and industry stakeholders for her eloquence in responding to the questions.

Shortly after, local media outlets reported of tension between MMPRC and the Ministry of Tourism, which however, were denied by the Minister Ibrahim Faisal.
