STELCO requests public to submit complaints on hiked bills

State Electric Company (STELCO) on Saturday, has requested public to submit their complaints on the last issued utility bills (for the month of May).

Public has been criticizing about the most recent utility bill, due to the significant surge in the charges. Many have been inquiring why the charges have significantly inflated despite the month coinciding with rainy weather generally.

STELCO in response said on X, the public are welcome to submit complaints to the billing number the utility provider’s Customer Service at 7788438 (on WhatsApp or Telegram) to lodge complaints.

Additionally, customers may also submit complaints via mail at [email protected].

STELCO further assured to give a reply to each of the complaints within a maximum of 24 hours from the time of receipt of the complaint.

While the utility charges have surged for May, similar complaints were made for the bills issued for March and April. However, in line with Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge, STELCO extended discounts on the bills, for which it incurred MVR 61.7 million.
