MACL launches internship program for person with special needs

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and the Ministry of Social and Family Development on Sunday, signed an agreement towards the launch of an internship program for persons with special needs.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony at MACL Head Office, where its Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Lamman signed the contract on the corporation’s behalf and Minister of State of the Social and Family Development Ministry Ahmed Athif.

MACL management members and the ministry’s senior officials were in attendance.

MACL Deputy Managing Director assured the corporation intends to provide a comprehensive training to the program’s participants.

State Minister Athif said persons with special needs have talents and skills they can utilize for meaningful causes. He added it was instrumental for them to become valuable contributors to the society much like the rest.

He also said personal and professional development of persons with special needs is a top priority of Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Under the one-year agreement between the parties, aimed at enhancing professional opportunities for persons with special needs, MACL will facilitate employment to five such individuals at the corporation.

The agreement also serves as a catalyst for an inclusive society with the involvement of persons with special needs or disabilities.
