Ooredoo commemorates Landhoo as ‘first digital island’

Ooredoo Maldives commemorates Noonu atoll Landhoo as the first digital island in the Maldives.

Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives, Hussain Niyaz presented a special plaque to Abdul Azeez, President of N. Landhoo Island Council to commemorate the island as the “first Digital Island” in the country.

This title, recognizes the island’s impressive efforts in adoption of digital innovation aimed at enhancing the lives of its residents. Additional to this, Niyaz also launched the island’s official website www.landhoo.gov.mv.

The island was first unveiled as the Digital Island from Ooredoo Maldives’ Digital Maldives, powered by AI campaign on the occasion of the World Telecommunications Day on May 17, 2024.

This groundbreaking project underscores Ooredoo’s commitment to advancing digital inclusion and empowerment across the Maldives.

In collaboration with Landhoo Council, Ooredoo Maldives will spearhead efforts to revolutionize the socio-economic landscape of the island community. And through strategic partnerships and innovative digital solutions, the Ooredoo Digital Island program aims to ‘further unlock’ new avenues of growth and development – especially in critical sectors such as healthcare, education and commerce.

Ooredoo Maldives ensures Landhoo remains at the forefront of the new digital era powered by AI, ensuring residents get access to the latest advancements in digital technology and innovation.
