MTCC reports 86% progress of Bilehfahi harbor project

According to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), the harbor development project in Shaviyani atoll Bilehfahi is well underway, with overall 86% project progress.

MTCC said the fourth shipment of rock boulders required for the project have already been transferred to the site.

Scope of the project includes dredging operations spanning 10,500 cubic meters for a new harbor basin, and another 3,825 cubic meters of dredging for the existing harbor basin.

9,800 cubic meters of dredging for the harbor entrance is part of the project, along with the dredging of 3,500 cubic meters for a boat beaching area.

Other components include construction of a 22-meter groyne, 181-meter quay wall, a 376-meter breakwater, a 170-meter revetment, and installation of a 1,549-square-meter harbor pavement.

The project also includes construction of a ramp, a bridge and installation of harbor and navigational lights. The project cost is MVR 40.73 million.
