Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives have commenced Girls to Code Dhidhdhoo Edition on Monday.

This exciting initiative is aimed at empowering young girls from Haa Alifu atoll Dhidhdhoo by teaching them essential coding skills using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

The programme kicked off on July 08 and classes will continue until September this year. Girls to Code is specifically designed for girls aged 10 to 13 years, with the goal of inspiring and empowering them to enter technology fields and addressing the gender gap in the industry.

Participants with no prior coding experience will gain hands-on practice, learn to code and create simple websites by the end of the programme.

“Inclusion and the empowerment of women are key focus areas of Dhiraagu’s CSR programme. Through this initiative, we aim to provide girls from HA. Dhidhdhoo with essential coding skills and boost their confidence,” said Bishaara Hameed, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu, during the opening ceremony of the Girls to Code Dhidhdhoo Edition.

“We hope to inspire a new generation of female leaders who can bridge the gender gap and contribute to a more inclusive and dynamic industry.”

“This programme is more than just learning to code; it’s about empowering you to create, innovate, and learn crucial digital skills for the 21st century,” said Mariyam Asna Saeed, President of Women in Tech Maldives.
