Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has sponsored the Maldives Travel Conference 2024 – Women’s Edition.
The conference aims to empower women’s empowerment and involvement in Maldives’ tourism industry.
The inaugural ceremony of the conference, organized by the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), was officiated by the First Lady Sajidha Mohamed.
At the inaugural ceremony, the Maldives First Lady highlighted importance of establishing policies to ensure gender equality and inclusivity in tourism sector. She emphasized analyzing the challenges women faced in their professional environment, and promised the government’s commitment towards ensuring equitable and equal opportunities for women in professional development and work.
MACL’s decision to sponsor the conference underscores the corporation’s role as a major tourism industry stakeholder and its commitment in amplifying the efforts made to ensure gender equality and women’s empowerment in the tourism industry.
The Senior General Manager of MACL’s Aerodrome Management Services, Mahamooda Shareef said that though women are involved engineering and airfield management fields, the involvement of women in leadership roles are still seldom.
She further noted MACL’s initiative of empowering women in these fields, and said the corporation has begun efforts of appointing women to various leadership positions.
The Maldives Travel Conference 2024 – Women’s Edition was held with the endorsement of the Ministry of Tourism, Women in Management, Women on Boards, and Women Entrepreneurs Association – Maldives (WEAM).
