Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture announced that the construction of the Maniyafushi Mariculture Research and Development Facility is undertaken by the sustainable Fisheries Resource Development Project is funded by the World Bank.
The purpose of establishing such a facility is to improve the efficiency of the Fishing industry at both national and international levels. Moreover, under this project, Mariculture research facilities will also be instigated in selected atolls.
According to the Ministry of Fisheries, the construction will include the establishment of a laboratory, kitchen, green staff accommodation block, a greenhouse, mosque, brood stock facility, live feed facility and a warehouse.
A One-Envelope Bidding Process has been opened by the Ministry of Finance and is due on 17th September 2018.
