The first test flight successfully lands at the newly developed airport at Kulhudhuffushi Island in the northern Haa Dhaal atoll.
The Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft of national carrier Maldivian landed at Kulhudhuffushi airport’s landing strip in the afternoon of 19th September, carrying Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer and the Attorney General.
With the successful test flight, Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer announced that Kulhudhuffushi Airport can now serve chartered flights.
The Minister said that President Abdulla Yameen will officially inaugurate the Kulhudhuffushi Domestic Airport within the next few days.

A pledge previously made by President Yameen, Kulhudhuffushi Domestic Airport project was contracted to MTCC last year. MTCC had reclaimed six hectares of land from the mangrove in the island, and an additional six hectares from Kulhudhuffushi’s lagoon.
