The international support division of Universal Weather and Aviation Inc. has confirmed their newest addition to the chain of worldwide offices; the Universal Aviation Maldives to begin operations by the end of November 2018.
The office will be headquartered inland of the airport venue; Velana International Airport – Hulhule’ and is a joint venture with Inner Maldives Holidays, the recipient of several global awards that has been providing tourism and travel services for the tourism industry of Maldives from 1998 and onwards.
The Universal Aviation Maldives will be their eighth addition across the Asia-Pacific region.
“The Maldives area (is a) popular but potentially challenging destination for our clients, so it was important for us to identify a partner in Inner Maldives that will not only reduce our customers’ risk and stress on the ground but provide them with an unforgettable experience through pro-active trip management, versus relying solely on third-parties” Chairman of Universal, Greg Evans said.
The managing director of Universal Aviation Maldives, Mr. Abdulla Ghiyas highlighted on the commercial flight traffic to Maldives, addressing the booming tourism industry of Maldives as the major contributing factor to it.
“Our team members are trained to Universal Aviation’s ground support standards, but are also experts in local tourism and can help arrange discounts for crews on local hotels, air transport and tours,” Mr. Ghiyas added.
Although the Universal Aviation Maldives primary operation will be housed at Maldives capital Male’ City, they will be providing supervisory services to all the airports operating across the country.
“Universal Aviation Maldives will support local business aviation traffic but just as importantly will be a local advocate for the industry in the Maldives,” the Senior Vice President, International of Universal Aviation Mr. Charlie Mularski added.
Universal Aviation has more than 40 locations in 20 countries the inclusion of 19 in the Asia-Pacific region with their latest addition in Maldives.
The venture’s partner Inner Maldives has been in operation since 1998 and has in the years expanded into one of the market leaders in the tourism industry with an annual turnover of over USD10 million reported back in 2012.
Universal Aviation’s first ground support office was opened in the mid-70’s in Mexico and Spain which the bio in the company’s official website read were “natural extension to the weather and coordination we were already providing to our clients at the time.”
The began expanding across international waters, establishing ground handlings offices into a global network during the late 1990s.
