Finance Minister to seek India funding for PSIP, budget support

Maldives Finance Minister Mr. Ibrahim Ameer has stated he will attempt in acquiring funding from India for Public Service Investment Program (PSIP) projects and budget support.

Mr. Ameer made the statement as he is currently visiting the neighboring south-Asian giant seeking counsel and support from Indian dignitaries.

Finance Minister, while echoing the current government’s sentiment said the main components under PSIP projects include installing adequate and functional sewerage systems and shoreline protection in local islands.

Maldives state aims to accumulate a total of USD 87.7 million in foreign grants; as reflected in the forecast budget for 2019. Minister Mr. Ameer assured funds will be raised up to expectations.

In his trip to India, minister Mr. Ameer is joined by Foreign Minister Mr. Abdulla Shahid and Economic Minister Mr. Fayyaz Ismail as well.
