The Most Environmentally Friendly Resort in the Maldives – Kudadoo – is due to open this December.

Kudadoo, the resort with the highest level of environment consciousness, is on its last stages of development and is set to be opened on the following Saturday.

The resort which is developed in the Lhaviyani Atoll of the Maldives, had stated that they intend on exemplifying the beauty of the resort by using only the indigenous trees growing within the resort.

The resort complements 15 Japanese style villas, designed by Yuji Yamasaki. The Retreat, a two-story main building, contains 984 solar panels on the roof. The solar panels are expected to be fully utilized throughout the resort, with 300 kilo watts of current produced.

In order to lower the resort’s level of carbon footprint and use of plastic, the drinking water used in the resort are desalinated in the resort itself, kept in recyclable glass bottles. To further eradicate single use plastic, Kudadoo has replaced plastic straws and utensils with biodegradable items. This is to ensure the blooming marine life of the resort would not face potential liabilities.

Kudadoo has further stated that they intend on reducing food wastage by purchasing only from local fishermen and obtaining seafood from the Maldives itself.

Kudadhoo resort is a project developed by Hurawalhi. As of right now, the resort has been listed for the 2019 Architectural Digest’s Hottest Designed Hotels.
