Government fiscal data to be published weekly

Maldives president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated government’s fiscal data will be published weekly.

While speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the water and sewerage system at Kaafu atoll Dhiffushi, president Solih stressed on the importance of the transparency in government bodies in order to eliminate room for corruption.

President Solih met with government ministries to properly identify the course of action by the said institutes and declared the government bodies must act with an improved level of transparency than present level.

The rent and lease of several land plots and lagoons previously had not been properly disclosed according to president Solih, who however added that the details were made available by Tourism Ministry on the previous week and he further stressed on publishing the fiscal data of all government institutes.

“Hopefully we will be publishing the government’s fiscal data weekly, and the procedure will commence starting next week” president Solih commented.

Speaking about the publication of government fiscal data and its targeted aims, president Solih claimed the government’s mandate to improve and develop the atolls as well as empowering the councils.
