Maldives Business Awards 2018 on Saturday, awarded Hon. Qasim Ibrahim with the Lifetime Achievement Award, for his contributions towards the growth of the Maldivian economy, and business community.
Mr. Qasim, who ventured into the corporate world in 1976 with a loan of MVR 15,000 from State Bank of India (SBI) has today become a household name when it comes to business and success. His story of growing his business from nothing has continued to inspire youngsters for generations, and is among the most looked up to businessmen in the Maldives.
Mr. Qasim Ibrahim was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award after immense paneling and discussion from the judges in various rounds. In addition, he was considered due to his immense contributions to society, government and the economy. From establishing scholarships and a top tier university as well as fulfilling the responsibilities as Maldives governor and Finance Minister; Qasim Ibrahim has proven himself instrumental to the development of the Maldivian Economy.
During the awards ceremony, Allied Insurance was also the recipient of one of the two elite awards. Allied Insurance took home the Business of the Year award, after attaining the maximum points on average from the categories. The insurance company managed to win the award after being recognized for its extremely professional business conduct and discipline.
