Ministry of Fisheries & Agriculture on Wednesday revealed that the country’s first┬áveterinary clinic will be opened in Villimale’ this Thursday.

The vet clinic will be fully equipped to treat any health problems animals face. With the opening of the clinic, diseases spread to humans from said animals would be easier to be treated and controlled as well.

The vet clinic – which is a historic first in the Maldives will be located at the Fisheries Research Center in the Maldives.

Establishment of a vet clinic has been a long standing request by several pet owners in the Maldives. While the Ministry gears up to the opening of the clinic, recently there has been an upwards spike of violence against stray cats in the capital – with the cats being violently abused and murdered.
