Maldives showcased at FITUR 2019

Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) alongside industry leaders showcased the destination at FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair.

Held in Madrid, Spain the Maldives will be represented by 21 companies with 36 representatives from 23rd to 27th of January 2019.

FITUR is one of the largest global platforms for leading travel trade professionals regarding inbound and outbound markets. This is the 39th consecutive year that the fair has been held. The first three days of the fair was geared towards trade visitors and the last two days are for trade visitors and for the general public. Although FITUR is mainly aimed towards the Spanish market, the platform will be a vital opportunity for the Maldives to connect with tourism professionals worldwide.

Maldives was located at the Asia and the Pacific hall in the 70 sqm stand, 6D12. During the fair, visitors were able to sample local food such as Theluli bambukeyo, Bondi and so forth. MeetingsĀ  were also to held with industry professionals, to seek possible joint campaigns and enhance the marketing efforts of the country.

Arrivals to Maldives from the Spanish Market has grown by 23% at the end of 2018, with a total of 31,780 arrivals. The Spanish market shares accounts for 2.1 percent of the total market share to Maldives.
