Govt. launches 46 mln water supply network in Hanimaadhoo

The Government of Maldives has launched a MVR 46 million project to establish a clean water supply network in Hanimaadhoo island in Haa Dhaal Atoll.

The project was launched by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim. Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Pvt Ltd (MWSC) is the contractor for the project. It is partly funded by OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) and partly by the Government. Environment Ministry says the project is valued at MVR 46,903,983.43.

Under the project, a clean water network measuring 19 kilometers will be created on the island. This network will have an RO plant, which can generate eight tons of water every hour and 168 tons of water a day.

Once completed, the network will cater to all households and institutions in the island.
