Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that development works will begin this month on Boduthakurufaanu Magu from the industrial village to the bridge.
Speaking to the media, Minister Muizzu stated that the road work on Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be complete by the time the bridge is completed. He added that plans are in place to widen the road and lay asphalt in the Artifical Beach area near the bridge.
“We will commence work on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, starting from industrial village to the bridge this month, so that asphalt work will be done on the entire area,” Minister Muizzu said.
He said that the road will be redesigned in order to widen the road up to the sea wall. He added that plans are in place to widen and develop an asphalt road from Ameenee Magu to Moonlight Hingun up to King Salman Mosque.
Minister Muizzu said that the road work schedule will be publicized in the upcoming week.
He said that the development works will be complete by August and will ease the traffic issues on Boduthakurufaanu Magu. The minister added that there are plans to change and develop the roads leading from the commercial harbor to the industrial village.
“Work is underway to lay asphalt on Iskandhar Magu, which is the main road to the industrial village. The road will be widened and completed as a two-way road,” Minister Muizzu said.
The roads around the MPL area will also be developed to allow ease of transport and traffic, according to the minister. Parking systems will be built in part of Maafannu cemetery to allow special parking areas for the vehicles in the area, the minister said.
“A parking system will be put in place in that area which will ensure no vehicles will be parked on the roads. This will allow for the roads to be developed as two-way roads,” Minister Muizzu said.
