Inflation rate drops by 0.09%

The National Bureau of Statistics (NSB) has stated that the inflation rate of the Maldives has decreased by 0.09% last January.

According to NSB, the price of fish has decreased by 0.08%.

The goods which saw a decrease in price include; Fish (1.88%), Transportation (14.19%), Oil and Lubricants (14.51%), Motorcycle components (1.79%), Fruits (0.40%), Medicine (0.31%), and Clothing (0.30%).

The goods which saw an increase in price include; Rent (0.40%), Household Hardware products (2.52%), Vegetables (2.16%), Vessel Maintenance Tools (8.58%), Audio Recording Equipment (3.53%), Milk, Cheese and Eggs (0.29%), Household Motors (0.29%), and Cafe’ Restaurant prices (0.18%).

NBS had revealed in December 2018 that inflation levels had decreased by 0.26%.
