The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that they will be extending maternity leave to 6 months.

The announcement follows a statement made by His Excellency President Mr Ibrahim Mohammed Solih on International Women’s Day, where he stated that women working in Civil Service would get 6 months of paid maternity leave and men would get 1 month of paid paternity leave.

MACL made their announcement through a tweet, which stated that the new policy is now in effect. They went on to elaborate that their policy would also provide paid maternity and paternity leave for 6 months and 1 month, respectively.

The statement also expressed full support for the government’s decision to provide maternity and paternity leave, adding that they believed that it would benefit their employees.

As MACL changes its policies, the State Trading Organization has also announced plans to follow suit.

Prior to this, Civil Service employees only got 3 months of maternity leave and 3 days of paternity leave.
