Batelco appoints new board member for Dhiraagu

The majority shareholder of Dhiraagu, Bahrain Telecom Company Limited (Batelco), has appointed a new board member to represent them on the Dhiraagu Board of Directors.

According to a statement released by Dhiraagu, Batelco appointed Mr Khalid Hussain Taqi as a non-executive member of the board.

Currently, the Dhiraagu Board of Directors consists of the Chairperson representing the Maldivian government, Mr Ismail Waheed, CEO, Mr Ismail Rasheed, the Director representing public shareholders, Mr Imran Ali, and 4 directors from Batelco.

Dhiraagu is a company of which 41.8% shares are owned by the government, 6.2% of shares are owned by the public, and 52% of shares are owned by Batelco.

Despite this, 99% of employees in Dhiraagu, the largest telecommunications company in the Maldives, are locals.

Dhiraagu paid MVR11.91 in dividends per share last year, which was a 10 laari increase from the MVR11.81 amount of 2017.
