Local airline, Maldivian, operated by Island Aviation Service Ltd has added its 23rd aircraft to the fleet.
The 50-seater Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft was welcomed by the company at Velana International Airport on Sunday.
Speaking to press after the ceremony, the company’s managing director Abdul Haaris highlighted the importance of expanding their air fleet to meet the demand that rises with the recent establishments of resorts and airports across the nation.
He further added that the growth of tourism industry is parallel to the quality of local air travel, and that the new addition to the fleet will broaden their operations.
Maldivian fleet now comprises of a 200-seater A321, a 152-seater A320, eight Dash8-300 with 50 seats, two Dash8-200 with 37 seats, and eleven DHC-6 seaplanes with 15 seats.
