Green Tax earnings reach above MVR79m during February 2019

According to recent statistics by Maldives Ministry of Finance the Green Tax earnings from all atolls of the country has reached a total of MVR79,732,723.83 during February 2019.

The statistics from Ministry of Finance had included Green Tax collected from tourism resorts, hotels, guesthouses and liveaboards or vessels as well.

While the total Green Tax collected during the second month of this year exceeded MVR79 million, a total of MVR76,768,232.15 was collected from resorts, hotels and guesthouses while the remaining MVR2,964,491.68 was collected from liveaboards or safari vessels operating in the country.

The stats confirm Kaafu atoll as the highest Green Tax contributor with a total of MVR27,925,240.62 collected. Alif Dhaal atoll is the second highest contributor with a total of MVR9,854,698.89 collected from tourist outlets operating in the atoll.

Other top contributors from the country include

  • Baa Atoll: MVR6,823,138.59
  • Alif Alif Atoll: MVR6,565,916.88
  • Lhaviyani Atoll: MVR5,387,088.96
  • Dhaalu Atoll: MVR3,817,508.82
  • Raa Atoll: MVR3,372,649.68
  • Noonu Atoll: MVR3,774,473.76

The total Green Tax revenue earned during February is also higher than the earnings of January which was MVR78,248,271.57 in total.

With both January and February’s Green Tax earning the cumulative revenue generated for the first two months of the year has reached MVR157,980,995.64 according to Ministry of Finance.
