MIRA heads to atolls to assist taxpayers

Teams from Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) are currently visiting four locations across the nation to assist taxpayers with Business Profit Tax returns.

MIRA teams are visiting Bilehdhoo island in Faafu atoll Feridhoo island in Alif Alif Atoll from March 10th till 14th, and Hulhudheli island in Dhaal Atoll until the 17th of this month. Teams are also visiting Thulusdhoo island in Kaafu Atoll from March 12th till 27th.

MIRA teams are assisting taxpayers from the islands prepare financial statements and complete BPT returns for tax year 2017.

Last year, MIRA visited Addu City, Fuvamulah City and islands in Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal, Shaviyani, Noonu, Raa, Laamu, Gaaf Alif, and Gaaf Dhaal atolls to assist small enterprises prepare financial statements and BPT returns for tax year 2016.

BPT returns for tax year 2017 are due on 30th June 2018.

MIRA added that those who require assistance in compiling their tax return can request for assistance by calling in MIRA hotline 1415. This is the second year MIRA is conducting such trips to assist taxpayers in compiling their tax returns.

BPT accounted for 9.8 percent or MVR 176,400,000 in earnings for the month of February.
