The Ministry of Tourism has issued operational permits to a total of 10 resorts and 40 guest houses. This was done within the first three months of the current presidency.
During the press conference conducted at the Ministry, the Minister of Tourism, Mr Ali Waheed stated that the current total number of resorts in the Maldives equate to 141.
He further stated that 1410 beds have been included in the resort industry, alongside 640 beds in guesthouses. Furthermore, 11 dive centers and 22 travel agencies were given operational permits. All was conducted during the current regime of the President, Mr Ibrahim Solih.
The Maldives would be opening a total of 30 resorts in 2019.
