The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has announced its plans to participate in PATA Travel Mart 2019 which is organized by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
Slated for September 2019, the event will be held at Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan and will be co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Tourism National Company JSC, the latter is a prominent body in tourism promotion in the country.
Speaking about the upcoming event, the Chief Executive Officer of PATA, Dr Mario Hardy said, “We are excited to hold the first-ever PATA event in Central Asia in the Republic of Kazakhstan. As the destination stands at the crossroads between Asia and Europe, it is the perfect venue to organize the Association’s signature travel trade exhibition in a uniquely transformational city that blends various cultures and heritages of both the East and West.”
As mentioned by Dr Hardy, the venue for the event is Kazakhstan which is situated in Eurasia – which makes it a country residing between two parts of the World, Europe and Asia.
The country sits at the junction of several of the world’s largest civilizations and borders with China, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the Russian Federation. And due to its geographical location, Kazakhstan is also a strong supporter of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) confirms the country had received over 7.7 million visitors in 2017 alone.
PATA and MATATO continue strong with their collaborative effort for international travel trade events and the latter is the designated seller in the Maldives for PATA Travel Mart 2019.
MATATO has been promoting Maldives tourism strongly at international events and so far this year the organization has exhibited Maldives at both WITM and VITM as well as at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
