Ministry of Economic Development signs MOU with Chinese government

The Maldivian Ministry of Economic Development has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chinese State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR).

The MOU was signed at an event held at Hotel Jen yesterday.

The Maldives was represented at the signing by the Minister of Economic Development, Mr Fayyaz Ismail, while the Chinese government was represented by the Agency Executive, Mr Zhang Mao.

The Ministry stated that this MOU would strengthen the relationship between the two nations. They elaborated that this would be done through mutual assistance in the areas of small to mid-tier business development, along with standards and consumer protection policy.

Additionally, the Ministry went on to state that some meetings at the executive level are being planned to implement the MOU. The Ministry also stated that workshops and conferences were also being planned to share skills and to foster cooperation between the two nations.

Lastly, the Ministry and the Chinese government also discussed the possibility of experts and officials from both countries visiting each other, providing seminars and courses, and cooperating with each other in the days to come.
