The state revenue collection and taxation authority, Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has made a total of MVR387,026,027 through the authority’s enforced collections during the first quarter of 2019.
The revenue collection and taxation authority was able to recover MVR205,656,697 through dunning and another MVR124,805,479 through reminder calls and emails to tax payers. In addition, MIRA collected MVR52,349,038 in dues clearance and under the authority’s bank account freezing policy MVR2,038,757 were recovered.
Apart from this, MVR1,664,492 were recovered as arrears to MIRA and through legal action another MVR511,564 were recovered.
During the first quarter, MIRA had issued final notices to 1,760 non-filers and 3,051 non-payers. Furthermore, 132 taxpayers were granted with instalment plans under MIRA during the quarter in review.
