Indian tourists visiting Maldives on the rise

There has been a noticeable rise in Indian tourists visiting the Maldives of late.

According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, there has been an 86% increase in Indian tourists visiting the Maldives from the second quarter of last year to the first quarter of this year. This increase has made India the fifth largest market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives.

In addition to India, the largest markets for tourists arrivals to the Maldives include China, France, Germany, Italy, and Russia.

Furthermore, the statistics released by the Ministry released that there have been 48,876 tourist arrivals from India to the Maldives from January to April of this year. This is a 95.3% increase compared to the previous year.

April alone saw 12,823 tourist arrivals from India, which is a 129% increase compared to last year.

With this increase in tourist arrivals, the Indian market currently accounts for 7.6% of the market in the Maldives.

The Quarterly Economic Bulletin released by the Maldives Monetary Authority also confirmed that India is the largest growing market in the Maldivian tourism industry. The bulletin also stated that there has been a 16% increase in tourist arrivals from the Asia Pacific region.

There have been 646,092 tourist arrivals in the Maldives so far, which is a 19.7% increase compared to the previous year.
