The new service from Qatar based telecom operator, Ooredoo, was officially introduced to Maldives by the country’s Tourism Minister Honorable Mr Ali Waheed during a special ceremony held at Dharubaaruge on 16 June 2019.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ooredoo Maldives, Mr Najib Khan noted the e-sim is ideal for customers using multiple numbers for personal or professional uses. Furthermore, Mr Khan added that with the introduction of e-sim, travelers arriving in Maldives can activate their numbers immediately.

With the new e-sim customers can subscribe for pre-paid, post-paid and even the tourist plan. However, the e-sim service is limited to customers using iPhone XS and their XS Max and XR models as well as Google Pixel 3.
