Dr Aishath Muneeza has been recognized as one of the top 50 most influential women at the Women of Islamic Business and Finance 2019.
The ceremony held on 17 June 2019 at Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) hosted by the UK-based financial intelligence house Cambridge IFA attracted some of the most influential and leading women in the Islamic business and financing sector from across the globe.
The top 300 women in the field of Islamic business and finance were named during the ceremony.
Dr Aishath Muneeza was recognized and acknowledged as one of 2019’s top 50 most influential women in Islamic Business and Finance and she was presented with the WOMANi Award badge and the certificate at the event.
Dr Muneeza is an Islamic finance specialist and an associate professor at the Islamic Finance University of Bank Negara, Malaysia. She is regarded as one of the pioneers of Islamic finance and began her career in Maldives at Capital Market Development Authority as the Islamic Finance Advisor.
She is also the first chairman of Maldives Hajj Corporation as well as the first female deputy minister of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
Her work portfolio includes fulfilling the designation as the former Deputy Minister of Finance at the Ministry of Treasury while she is also credited for organizing the first commercial sukuk and sovereign personal sukuk by Maldives government.
Furthermore, she is also credited for her assistance in structuring the first Islamic treasury bills in Maldives while she was also the consultant for the first Islamic microfinance project ever to be effectuated in the country.
While her contribution to Islamic finance is recognized worldwide, her Islamic finance journals are used as source or reference materials in various of the globe as well.
For her commitment and contribution in the field of Islamic Business and Finance Dr Aishath Muneeza received the accolade at the WOMANi ceremony.
The WOMANi is a component of Cambridge IFA’s women’s empowerment program to highlight notable functions in Islamic business and finance executed by remarkably proficient women.
