The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has stated that MVR39.8 million has been spent to market Maldivian tourism to foreign countries.
The Managing Director of MMPRC, Mr Thoyyib Mohammed stated that there were many events planned for different points of the year. He added that as such, the Maldives will be represented at several fairs, fame trips, and road races.
The budget for promoting the Maldives this year is MVR157 million, which is an MVR104 million increase compared to the initial budget.
The government had previously stated that it would increase the spending on promoting the Maldives as a tourist destination and that the goal for this year is to reach 1.5 million tourist entries into the country.
