Dhiraagu has introduced internet speeds up to 1GB/s to the Maldives.
The service was introduced in a special ceremony held at the Dhiraagu Head Office. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Communication, Science and Technology, Mr Mohammed Maleeh Jamal.
Dhiraagu also stated that they would provide routers with their new service.
The Minister stated that the government fully supports initiatives such as this by private companies to bring better services to the public, adding that this was a service that was greatly needed by the public.
The CEO and Managing Director of Dhiraagu, Mr Ismail Rasheed stated that the company always aims to provide high-speed internet to all the islands in the Maldives without any difference in price. He also added that with the new service, there should not be any changes to internet speed even if there are several users on the same network at the same time.
The new service will be rolled out today in Malé, Hulhumalé, Villimalé, Addu, Fuvahmulak, L. Gan, L. Funadhoo, HDh. Kulhudhufushi, and B. Eydhafushi.
