Nationwide utility service provider, Fenaka Corporation Limited has started installing generator systems in five islands as a part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its electricity network.
Earlier this month, the generators were sent to Villingili in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Fonadhoo, and Gan in Laamu Atoll and Guraidhoo in Thaa Atoll. Fenaka revealed efforts to install the generator in Fonadhoo has begun while the installation of generators in Gan and Guraidhoo will begin in the coming days.
Although, Fenaka announced generators in Thinadhoo and Villingili can only be installed after dispatching more equipment to the islands. The company sent a 1-megawatt generator for the powerhouses in Villingili, Thinadhoo, and Fonadhoo, meanwhile, 800-kilowatt generators were provided for the powerhouses in Gan and Guraidhoo.
Fenaka revealed the new generators will boost the company’s efforts to provide uninterrupted electricity services to the growing population in the islands. The state-owned utility company provides electricity to 149 islands in the Maldives.
Fenaka Corporation limited ensures that island communities are provided with exceptional water, secure and reliable supply of electricity, sewer service, and waste management systems. By last May, Fenaka had spent over USD 9 million to improve its services.
