Felivaru fish cannery packs record number of fish


Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company reveals that its Felivaru fish cannery packed record number of fish on Sunday.
According to MIFCO, felivaru fish cannery packed 60 tonne of fish on Sunday, which is a record level for the past 12 years.
Felivaru packed 4,888 fish can cases on Sunday, which included 3,946 cases of small cans of Tuna Chunks in Oil, 46 cases of large cans of 1.8 Kilos and 196 pouch packs of fish, which is in high demand in European markets.
MIFCO is operated under the state owned company, State Trading Organization, STO, since 2016.

Previously operated as an individual company, MIFCO was brought under STO to alleviate loses, and avoid bankruptcy.

Felivaru fish cannery is the only lucrative asset under MIFCO President Ibrahim Mohamed Solid was cited as saying recently. He expressed hopes of turning the company for the better and making it a profitable business before the end of the year.
