President appoints new member to National Pay Commission

The National Pay Commission under Maldives Ministry of Finance gets their newest member.

State has appointed Aishath Fareedha as the newest member to the commission. She was appointed by the Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, under his state-vested rights to designate members to state led commissions.

The current members of the commission include its incumbent president, the Maldives Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer along with other members; Mariyam Niyaf Mohamed, Afaaf Ibrahim, Ali Didi and Fathimath Shana.

The National Pay Commission was formed in order to regulate, amend or make the regulations of salaries, wages and allowances of public sector employees. The commission under its vested rights enforced through the Maldives Constitution, allows its members to monitor and bring any changes to allowances for public sector employees following their retirement as well.

The commission was formed under the Act 11/2016 which is otherwise known as the State Salary and Wages Policy Act.
