MTCC Signs Contract to Procure Compactor for Thilafushi Landfill

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) has been contracted for the purchase of a waste compactor for Thilafushi on 26th November 2019. The contract was signed by Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan on behalf of the government and General Manager of MTCC, Shifau Ali, signed on behalf of the company.

The compactor will be used to compress waste so that it could be stored for longer periods without the need for open burning. Furthermore, according to a press release by MTCC, the total cost of this waste compactor is about MVR 9.6 million and is expected to be brought to Thilafushi within 4 months.

Recently MTCC was also contracted by the government for Harbour Rehabilitation, Waste Processing, Administrative Building, Workshop and Civil Works (platform) for C&D Plant, Recycling Yard, and ELV Dismantling Workshop at Thilafushi.
