Maldives CPI drop 0.13% in November 2019

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Maldives dropped by 0.13% in November 2019 according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

According to the authority’s latest statistics on the Consumer Price Index – inflation rate on goods – the CPI was held at 0.28% in the previous month of October.

In addition to this, with the exclusion of inflation rates on fish prices, the CPI dropped overall by 0.19%.

Drop in various groups;

  • Vegetables: -5.63%
  • Rent: -.073%
  • Furniture and fittings: -6.32%
  • Transport (sea): -3.85%

Groups with CPI improvement;

  • Telecommunication: 2.28%
  • Fish: 1.23%
  • Cafe and Restaurants: 0.35%
  • Milk, Cheese and Eggs: 0.41%
  • Meat: 1.42%
  • Fruits: 0.66%
  • Pharmaceutical Drugs: 0.44%

According to the state budget for 2020 the overall inflation rate in Maldives will enter deflationary territory; with the CPI stable at 1% throughout the year.
